Stop arcing and die damage with ONEX RF Welders

ONEX RF Welders can Seal Around a Brass Shim Without Arcing

This is how we proved it.

Recently a customer of ours was performing FAT on an ONEX RF-Galaxy inline RF welding platform. During the FAT we provided in depth training and demonstrated the advantages of the ONEX RF closed loop process control and Arc shut down technology.

We explaned the advantages of the technology

  • Advantage #1: ONEX RF closed loop process control monitors the forward and reflective powers and dynamically tunes the process and compensates for impedance change during welding. This, results in repeatable energy transfer to the sealed product at all times. In addition to the process repeatability, the technology compensates for material variations and tolerates "fatal mistakes".
  • Advantage #2: ONEX RF arc shut down technology uses the fastest arc detect and shut down electronics and software control in the industry. When an arc is detected, instead of creating another path to ground, the ONEX RF system shuts down the generator output instantly, eliminating a current rush through the die, which in turn saves die from damage or melt down. The software detects the energy deficiency and tags the article as reject.

We Then Decided to Prove Our Point Right Then and There.

Our customer manufactures urine bags, after several normal cycles we stopped the process and inserted a brass shim between the film layers right across the weld area. Our visitors took a few steps back.

They knew that if we pulled off a trick like that on a standard vacuum tube RF welder, the die would arc and burn a big hole where we had placed the metal.

We then started the cycle and not only did it not arc, the ONEX RF welder actually sealed the bag right around the brass shim. As soon as the brass contacted the die, the ONEX RF Welder halted the process – no mark, no arc, no burned holes, and no damage on the die.

What was their response?   "Wow!"

Needless to say, they were impressed.
