The process uses an RF induction coil uniformly wound around the die for even mold heating and controlled plastic formation.

Tip Forming a 13F Dilator

Customer Requirement:

Customer wanted to bring the manufacturing of 2.5" long dilators in-house because he was experiencing issues with deformed tips in the field. They requested to use 4" long stroke platform for future projects.

ONEX RF Solution:

We redesigned our LX1 platform by extending the body and used a 100mm stroke cylinder to form long catheters.

We then developed new carbide dies and did the process development. Customer liked the results and purchased the LX3 model with the extended stroke and larger die cassette.

We offered the following solutions. 

  • CTF-807-LX3 with medium cassette to form 2.5" long dilator tips with a step and flash cutting mandrel.
  • Designed and manufactured new dies and coils for different sized catheters.
  • Helped the the customer validating the process.

Customer Requirement:

Customer wanted to bring the manufacturing of 3.5" long introducers in-house because he experienced consistency issues with forming the long tips.

ONEX RF Solution:

We redesigned our LX1 platform by extending the body and used a 100mm stroke cylinder to form the long catheters.

We used the LX3 model with extended stroke and larger die cassette.

We offered the following solutions. 

  • CTF-807-LX3 with large cassette to form 3.5" long dilator tips with step and flash cutting mandrel.
  • We designed and manufactured new die and tuned coil.
  • Formed perfect samples for customer's evaluation.

Customer Requirement:

Customer R&D engineer was designing a 3" long dilator and needed quick samples for trial.

ONEX RF Solution:

We designed and manufactured the die and did process development to form customer samples.

We offered the following solutions. 

  • CTF-807-LX3 with medium cassette to form 3.0" long dilator tips with flash cutting mandrel.
  • We designed and manufactured a new die and tuned coil.
  • Formed perfect samples for customer's R&D trials.
