Dies get damaged all the time

No RF Out Short Protection Circuit

Yes, no adjustment required

Control Voltage 5VDC

Fast Response

Rarely will damage a die

No RF Out Short Protection Fuse

Yes, no adjustment required

Yes RF Out Short Protection HV Fuse

VSWR Protection
None

Max 10% set at the factory.

The generator output section (Mosfet Transistor) will get damaged if reflected power goes beyond the set limit for short period of time.

10-20% set at the factory

Can withstand 50% for up to 30 seconds, if for some reason the system does not shut down the output power due to VSWR alarm issue.

Power Stability

None

Better than ±10% over 8hrs at 27.12MHz with adequate water flow and cooling capacity device

Better than ±10% over 8hrs at 27.12MHz / Controlled by Closed Loop Feedbag + AGC / using internal air blower.

Input Line Voltage Fluctuation Affect
Output RF Power will increase or decrease causing product burns or inadequate seals.

Output RF Power will stay stable.

Generator internal electronic components may suffer if the voltage fluctuation level exceeds factory limits for more then a few seconds.

Output RF Power will stay stable.

HVDC will increase but Plate and Grid may decrease due to AGC closed loop power control.

10. RF Signal Generator Circuit

Fixed Attached to the RF Welder Frame

Open Loop RF Generator. Oscillator tube is driven by the resonator circuit. Manual tuning is required to achieve resonant frequency.

Air blower is used to cool the vacuum tube section.

Free standing, may be integrated into the RF welder platform or mounted in a standalone cabinet.

Solid State RF Amplifier. Uses several 1200 watts mosfet transistors and the RF outputs are combined with a combiner circuit.

Water cooling is essential for proper cooling and operation of the generator.

Free standing, 19" Rack Mount Cabinet with Casters.

Hybrid RF Amplifier. Uses single 1200 watts mosfet transistor driven 1st stage RF amplifier. The final stage vacuum tube amplifier is designed to amplify the input power 20 times.

Air blower is used to cool the vacuum tube section, which is essential for proper cooling and operation of the generator.

RF Output Connection
The Generator RF Out is directly connected to the RF welder upper platen via copper flexible foil material. The impedance is matched by fixed capacitors.
The Generator RF output signal is connected to the Impedance Match Network via RG393 - LC or 7/16 Connector. The Match Network is directly mounted to the back of the RF Generator and output from MN is connected to the RF welder upper platen via copper flexible foil material. No other capacitors or inductors are required for impedance matching

RF Impedance Matching, when using different size dies or materials

Fixed, does not come with an Auto Tuning capability. Material variation can cause major issues.

The Match network automatically adjusts the load impedance upon detection of the RF Signal and reduces the reflected power.

Material thickness variations are never an issue.

Major Issues

Electronic components, capacitors, resistors and the Oscillator Tube. When there is a problem the generators are repaired by trial and error, replacing components until it works.

Lack of basic knowledge on RF circuits and proper training can cause major down time.

On site support is available by outside vendors trained in RF sealing systems.

Generator output section mosfet transistor or the combiner circuit is damaged and does not give full power output.

Match network position feedback pentameter is damaged, which in turn can damage the motor or capacitor.

Generators can not be repaired on site due to lack of knowledge and proper test equipment. Usually the generator are shipped back to the factory for repair.

On site support is not available.

Match Networks with proper training can be repaired on site.

Generator Vacuum Tube is damaged shorted or arcs. If tube is shorted it can cause chokes or capacitor burn.

Match network position feedback pentameter is damaged, which in turn can damage the motor or capacitor.

Generators can be repaired on site with proper training based on the self diagnostic circuits. The only thing is hard to detect is tube damage when it's degrading.

Online support is available during normal work hours and on site service call, within 24 hours.

Match Networks with proper training can be repaired on site.
